Located just 4 km from Camping Saint-Martin in Sorèze, Lake Saint-Ferréol is one of the most famous sites in the Montagne Noire. Very popular with holidaymakers, this place offers the ideal setting for a family day out in the countryside.

Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with the Canal du Midi, the Saint-Ferréol basin is part of the system designed by Pierre-Paul Riquet to supply water to the canal. It is an impressive historical structure that adds to the richness of the site.

Today, the lake has become a popular leisure destination during holidays at the Saint Martin campsite in the Tarn.

A place steeped in history around the Canal du Midi

Near the lake, you can visit the Canal du Midi Museum and its gardens, located at the Saint-Ferréol reservoir. It is the only museum dedicated to the history and construction of the Canal du Midi.

The visit provides an insight into how this basin was built to supply the canal and why it represented a technical feat for its time.

The site is also located at the meeting point of several regions:
Tarn, Haute-Garonne and Aude, between Sorèze, Revel and the Montagne Noire.

In summer, shuttle buses run between Revel and the lake
